•Of the 407 Sages of Rigveda, 21 are women. Many significant hymns are by women.
•Recitation of Atharvaveda starts with invocation to Devi: “shanno devirbhishtiye…”.
Book XIV of this Veda and sections in other books also attributed to Women Sages (‘Rishikā’)
•Recitation of Samaveda often accompanied by playing of instruments by women.
•Several mantras from Yajurveda (e.g. Sukla YV 5.17) specifically recited by women.
